London Marathon minus 7 weeks and 1st race of the year

Well its getting closer, and the training is going really well.
I did my first race of the year Yesterday, The Snake Lane 10 mile. I did this race last year so I had a time to beat I hr 36, and I did, 1hr 32 min, I am still buzzing.
I didn't do so many miles last week but I did do a tough cycle ride on the Monday of 26 miles.
I did 28.17 miles of running last week and went over 300 miles for the year so far. Buzzing about that too.
I gained a pound in weight, Boo!! But lost another couple of inches, buzzing about that.
All in all everything is going great, long may it continue.
Last weeks Run 28.17 miles
Last weeks cycle 26.17 miles
last weeks swim 1.6 miles
This week promises to be a good one as long as inconvenient meetings dont get in the way of my training.

VLM -8wks, (late again)

I got  a good week of training in last week;
SWIM 1.36 mile
BIKE 12.41 mile
RUN 38.85 mile
Long run was Sunday, 22.64 miles, which I completed in 4 hr 7 mins. My fastest long run to date, I'm struggling with nutrition on the run though, started off with 1 lucozade jelly bean every   2 miles, but it felt like I was faffing about, and made my mouth all gluey, so i had to drink loads of water, so when I went home at 13 miles for more water,(and the loo) I chose an isotonic drink instead, and tried a good swig every mile, that felt as if it was upsetting my stomach.  I did a couple of miles without, and then it settled. I did feel better than usual  towards the end of the run so something worked.
I entered the Newcastle Town Moor Marathon last week bringing my 2011 marathons to 3. I did this race last year and even though it is laps I enjoyed it, it's a friendly small race at the back end of the year in cooler weather, Its about 3 weeks earlier this year so it may not be as cold , wet and windy as it was last year.
I also sent out some fundraising letters, which have not worked to date. I am so relieved that I am not committed to a charity in order to race, I have no idea how people manage to raise the vast sums of money required to run a charity place.
I didn't lose any weight last week, but I still managed to lose an inch or so.

VLM -9wks, 2days late

Blog is late this week as I was in Edinburgh for the Weekend to watch the Rugby, (Scotland lost, oh dear) Hubby took it well.
It was a great weekend, Hubby gave me some gorgeous opal earrings and bought me a beautiful new coat. i am so lucky.
We stayed at the Beverley Hotel near Murryfield, it was lovely and friendly, the room was great and the brekkie was cracking, thanks Judy for such a warm welcome.
Back to training. The diet seems to be doing its job, I'm not carrying as much weight around these days.
Last week was a step back week, so my long run was 10 miles, I did that on Friday, as I woke at 4 and couldnt get back to sleep. that meant that I turboed on Sunday after we returned home and had collected Jed from the Kennels.
Last week I ran 28 miles, biked 13.4 miles and swam 1.5 miles, I also walked around 14 miles, acording to my pedometer around Edinburgh, including lots of steps (Scots monument, and we were on the very top row at Murryfield stadium)
All in all I feel it was another good productive  week.
Less than 9 weeks to go!

Double marathon and triathlon training week 5

Well 5 weeks of training have passed, I came 5th in Janathon, an online running comp, which I used to kick start my training.
It was strange having non running days this week after running for 32 days straight. I swam Wednesday and Turbo ed Friday with a total no phys day on Saturday and a 20 mile run on Sunday.
so here are the stats:
Running               42.6  miles
Swimming             1.7  miles
Cycling on turbo 12.64 miles
Total                  56.94 miles
Calories burned    8598
Also, when I started this training on new Years Day 2011 I weighed 12 st 12 lb. I now weigh 12 st 3 lb.
So all in all I'm very pleased with the results of my training so far.

IN DAD'S NAME UPDATE

Now that #Janathon is over it is time to concentrate on raising money for the British Lung Foundation, IN MY DAD'S NAME. I have updated his page adding in The Great North Swim as one of my challenges.
I understand that the challenges that I have set myself are hard, but unfortunately realise that raising the money will be the hardest bit. Any ideas how I can do this will be most welcome.
