Janathon day 10, Marathon training day1

Well at least its a bit warmer, but still rain on frozen ground made it like an ice rink again this morning, Yaktrax to walk the dog, kept me upright. Went to work on my bike, the gritters had done their work and the main roads were not too bad but the pavements were horrendous. Apart from getting soaked, I got to work in one piece.
Marathon Training Plan Day 1 said 5 miles @ 11:01 mpm pace, I couldn't do it. my Maths isn't great at the best of times and I've never tried running to a pace, so When I looked at my watch and saw that the pace was 10:34 mpm I told Vicky that we had to speed up, it wasn't till we'ed done the worst inclines that I realised that we should have slowed down, DUH!! Still it felt like quite a relaxed pace in the pouring rain and there were only a couple of little bits of ice. actually ran 5.49 miles in just under 59 mins a 10:39 mpm pace
Straight from the run it was swim time, it seemed weird putting my swim cap on wet hair. The pool was not too busy but busier than it has been in a while, but my confidence has grown and I didn't waste time waiting for gaps, I just went for it. did 1000 yards in just under 34 mins.

(N)ice run

Well today didnt start too great, didnt lose any weight last week even after burning 5739 calories in excersise plus dog walks and walking to work, i need to do even more and eat even less.
The dog walk this morning was a challenge, it had been raining overnight with a freezing wind, hence the streets were like an icerink. I put on my Yaktrax and managed to remain upright, but the dog was like bambi, struggling to walk on the pavements and roads, it was better on the grass.
Today was the first day of upping my turbo session to 20 mins. I calculated my cadence as 94 rpm. session went well, undercarraige getting used to the seat now.
Straight from turbo I went for my long run, it was too dangerous on the roads and paths so my friend and I set off in our Yaktrax to the local deer park. all of the well trodden bits of the park were still slippy so we ran in longer grass and did a couple of hills. We saw an awesome stag, he was a beauty, we saw him again on the way back.
It was hard work running on ice, even the yaktrax struggled to give us purchase at times, so the workout was quite slow but the effort was massive. Janathon day 9 done.

Week 2 Day 1 Janathon

Well, last night I overindulged in homebrew, and the rain on the bedroom window, made sure that I had a rubbish nights sleep, Therefore, I was shattered before I even set off for my mile. Today aught to be a rest day in my plan for training for London Marathon, so a mile is enough. It was slippy as the rain had not melted all of yesterdays snow. The mile went ok considering.
My training Tshirt arrived today for the British Lung Foundation, so i may wear that on tomorrows longish run.
Tomorrow is weigh day, I'm getting nervous, I have taken care over my diet and done extra exersize, so fingers crossed I lose some weight. On 01/01/11 I was 12st 12lb and would love to lose 12lb.

Dogjog a disaster

Woke this morning to pouring rain, had to combine dog walk and run (Dogjog). started ok, it was cold and windy as well as wet, we walked to the park for Jed too do his thing, then we set off at a jog.
Gosh I felt tired from last nights run, but I was practically dragging Jed, where as normally, I struggle to hold him back, at the next park I let him off the lead and he was just not interested in anything, so I put him back on the lead, slowed down and he kept stopping, we did manage just over a mile, but it was really slow.
Wednesday is one of my swim days I haven't been swimming since the week before Christmas, due to a frozen shoulder, but that feels much better now and the swim went well. it was good to be back in the water, I did 1500 yds, quite comfortably in 45 minutes.
Day 5 janathon complete

Goodbye fishes and cup

Today I had to bury the two fish from the pond, Unfortunately they froze to death in that last cold spell, the pond totally froze solid and has just about defrosted revealing the two unfortunate fish.
Another sad thing was that I had to hand back my big cup which I got for being Ripon Runners most improved female 2009. At the end of the month it will go to another home. My shelf looks so bare without it.
I have posted off my entry for The Yorkshire Dales Series, (formally The Black Sheep Series). I am gutted that I cannot run the Burn Valley half marathon this year, its 6 days before the Triathlon. I love that race its definitely my favorite half, so scenic and challenging. I have also entered the Stokesley Novice Duathlon in March to give me a feel for transition.
Anyway today is day 4 of the Janathon challenge, I didn't sleep well last night and was back at work today. 15 Mins before it was time to leave for running club I got on the turbo and did 9.32 km, I am trying to toughen my butt up, that seat is mean. What it did do though was give me a great warm up before running club, I got off the turbo and walked the 3/4 mile to the clubs headquarters. I found the run easier than usual, here it is Janathon day 4 by lena1966 at Garmin Connect - Details the run sections were fast and I kept up nicely, we had regroups about every mile, which has made the pace appear slower. Day 4 of #Janathon done, and on not much sleep. Felt good though.
I have now dehydrated and refueled and as I am so tired its bath and bed for me. Night all.

First day of the new Year

Janathon 2011 Participant LogoHappy New Year, Went out for a couple of drinks last night to see in the New Year, was home by 01:30.
Little sleep in this morning, but got out with Jed for a #dogjog to start #janathon2011 off. Jed is only 9mths and cannot be run properly until he is a year old so a slow steady jog is ok he can run way faster than me if I let him. We walked to the park to warm up and let Jed do his business, then jogged to the sports fields and ran a mile with Jed off the lead. Then we walked to another dog walk area and I let him off again and ran a bit more, at the road I put his lead on and we jogged for home, nice and slow with stop and sniffs.
